The Soul of the Artist: What I Feel When I Paint

I am Magda Urse, a Romanian painter and restorer, a mother, and a wife. My journey as an artist began in my childhood, inspired by the beauty of the world around me and a profound desire to create. I attended the Nicolae Tonitza Art High School and later graduated from the University of Arts in Bucharest, where I deepened my technical knowledge and artistic expression. But, more than the techniques I learned, it was the emotional connection to my art that became my true guiding force.

The Act of Painting: A Deep Emotional Experience

For me, painting is not just a technical endeavor—it is an emotional, almost spiritual journey. When I stand before a blank canvas, I don’t just see the potential for color and shape; I feel the pulse of my emotions, my thoughts, and the energy of the world around me. It’s as though my inner world flows through my brushstrokes, each color carrying a part of my soul.

Every painting I create is a reflection of my innermost feelings, my personal struggles, joys, and the beauty I see in life. It’s an intense, intimate process that goes beyond the mere application of pigment. I become one with my art, and in doing so, I pour everything I am into each piece. It’s this connection, this raw honesty, that makes art such a powerful form of communication.

Art as a Gift to the World

When I think about where my work will go, I always imagine it reaching the hearts and minds of those who will encounter it. My paintings are not just for me—they are a gift. I pour my love, my dedication, and my energy into every stroke because I know that these works will eventually find their place in the world. Whether in private collections, galleries, or homes, my art carries with it a piece of my soul and my passion for life.

Each time someone sees my work, it is my deepest hope that they will feel the same emotions, the same beauty, and the same energy that I felt when creating it. My art is a bridge, connecting my innermost self to the viewer, allowing them to experience something of the human spirit that transcends words.

A Commitment to the Future

As a mother and wife, my dedication to art is not just about personal fulfillment, but about leaving something meaningful behind. I want my work to inspire, to touch lives, and to be remembered long after I am gone. It is my way of contributing to the world, of sharing my perspective and my love for art with others.

In the end, being an artist is not just a career or a passion—it is a vocation. It is a commitment to creating beauty, to expressing truths, and to offering a part of myself to the world. The act of painting is both a gift and a responsibility, and I am grateful for the privilege of doing it every single day.
